Do we have room for Jesus?
12/25/2022
Luke 2:7 “And she gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn”
John 14:2 "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."
Introduction:
A child asked: “Daddy, may I ask you a question?” “Yeah, sure, what is it?” replied the man. “Daddy, how much money do you make an hour?”
“That’s none of your business! What makes you ask such a thing?” the man said angrily.
“I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?” pleaded the little boy.
“If you must know, I make $20.00 an hour.”
“Oh,” the little boy replied, head bowed. Looking up, he said, “Daddy, may I borrow ten dollars, please?”
The father was furious. “If the only reason
you wanted to know how much money I make is just so you can borrow some to buy
a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your
room and go to bed. Think about why you’re being so selfish. I work long,
hard hours every day and don’t have time for such childish games.”
The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. The man sat down and started to get even madder about the little boy’s questioning. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?
After an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think he may have been a little hard on his son. May be there was something he really needed to buy with that ten dollars and he really didn’t ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy’s room and opened the door. “Are you asleep son?” he asked. “No, daddy, I’m awake,” replied the boy. “I’ve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier,” said the man. “It’s been long day and I took my aggravation out on you. Here’s that ten dollars you asked for.”
The little boy sat straight up, beaming. “Oh, thank you daddy!” he said. Then, reaching under his pillow, he pulled out some more crumpled-up bills. The man, seeing that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, then looked up at the man. “Why did you want more money if you already had some?” the father grumbled.
“Because I didn’t have enough, but now I do,” the little boy replied. “Daddy, I have twenty dollars now. Can I buy an hour of your time?”
Body
We arrived at our text today and we are told that Mary and Joseph arrived at the Inn, and was told that there is no room here for you.
This is nothing new for us:
We have been rejected before!
1.
The Inn keeper looked
at us and told us that we are not the right demographic.
2. The Inn keeper look at us, you don't have any
money,
3. Perhaps, the Inn keeper looked at us and said
that you're too dirty for the Inn; therefore, we have no room for us.
4. Maybe that is why we all are here today
because there is no room for us.
5. Gate Keeper throughout our lives has told us, you're not good enough, you are not smart enough, you can't sing, you are not strong enough, you are not pretty enough,
In all aspect of life there is a Gate Keeper, there is an Inn Keeper, and they determine whether we fit in or not.
And here we found Baby Jesus got rejected!
that is the first message we announce to the Son of God:
1.
we have no room for
you get out!
2. You are not good enough for us
3. We don’t have time for you
4. We too many important things to be bothered
How we might make room for the new born child
today?
1
We have been bought,
not with $20.00, not with anything material value, but with the priceless
Prince of Peace.
2
Jesus have paid for a
room for us!
3
No! Jesus has paid for
a Mansion for us.
Didn't he promised, our text today promised us: "In my father house, there are many Mansion."
Lets not be like the Inn, in fact, we are the
manger that makes room for the baby Christ
Today we will keep our eyes on the Baby Christ
Conclusion:
Young man was at the Circus, and he just happen to pass by where they kept the Elephants; he noticed that the elephant is tied with a rope onto a chair. This is a 1200 LBS elephant that is tied onto a chair. He thought, this is very dangerous as the elephant, with no effort, can easily pull on the rope and get away and it could be very dangerous to the crowd.
As he was wondering this, one of the trainers pass by, so the young man asked, “trainer, isn’t it dangerous to just ties the elephant with a skinny rope to a simple chair? He can easily get away?” The trainer explained: see young man, when this elephant was just a baby, he was tied with the same rope to the same chair. Back then, he could not get away. So the elephants have been mentally trained and conditioned that they could not get away.

Our Text reminded us today: Although we he had no room, In his father’s house, there are many Mansions.
Together:
O Lord empty me, fill me with Your Love instead, Cleanse my
old ways and make me new
O Lord empty me, fill me with your light, Take away my sin and make me whole
O Lord empty me, strengthen my faith, cleanse me
of my unfaithfulness
O Lord empty me, open my inner eyes, let your
spirit be my guidance
O Lord empty me, fill this heart with
gratefulness, let it be your sanctuary
O Lord empty me, Cultivate my soul, so I may
take part in your harvest
O Lord empty me, Let my spirit be humbled, at
your feet, my spirit shall be renewed
O Lord empty me, fill me with your blessing, Let
the child Jesus reign in my life
O Lord
empty me, Your Grace is sufficient, and your redemption is final
Closing
prayer:
Dear God,
fill us with all whom You are, the great I Am. Take over our family, thoughts,
words, actions, relationships, social and professional deeds. Allow your spirit
to pour on to us and out from us, so You can be magnified among us. Empty out
our sinful thoughts and behaviors. Teach us Your ways Father. We love You! We
need You! We are asking these things in the name of this Holy baby Jesus. Amen
